PORT WENTWORTH, Ga. (WSAV) – A pair of warehouses in Port Wentworth sustained damage from severe weather that passed through the area early Friday afternoon.
The facilities are located near the intersection of Jimmy DeLoach Parkway and Logistics Way.
At one warehouse, strong winds peeled back the roof of the structure. The second warehouse seems to have suffered even more extensive damage, as a huge chunk of the roof is now piled up in the loading bay area.
Chatham County emergency officials describe the damage to the buildings as roof collapses.
Although there were people working inside when the storm hit, no injuries have been reported. News 3 learned that the bulk of the workforce was still out to lunch when the damage occurred.
According to Storm Team 3, damage in the Port Wentworth area will need to be assessed before there is any official word on the strength of the storm. That update could come as early as Saturday.
