Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools all began classes on August 2 except for Marshpoint Elementary School. Classes were delayed until August 6, due to tornado damage.
Air quality tests have been completed and rooms were cleaned up to allow teachers to return to their classrooms on Friday.
According to the school district, the third and fourth grade wing, 13 classrooms, sustained the most water damage and will be blocked off for the next 8 to 10 weeks while crews repair the damage.
In the meantime, the school is converting art rooms and computer labs into temporary classrooms for students.
At this time, district leaders have not announced whether they will schedule any makeup days for Marshpoint Mariners. News 3 will continue to update this story.
