In the midst of a near-perfect season, the Vidalia girls soccer team has a chance to make it to the state championship game for the first time in school history.
“As this is our first time in school history playing in the Final Four our entire team is really excited for this opportunity,” senior Logan Reid said after practice Sunday. “We are really hoping to make a state championship.”
The Indians will take on Model in the GHSA 2A Final Four Monday at 5:30 p.m. The game will be played in Rome, Georgia.
“We’ve had a great season so far,” Reid added. “This is the best season we’ve had in my career here at Vidalia High School. We look forward to seeing where it goes from here.”
Reid has put together an impressive senior campaign, scoring 15 goals as the Indians compiled a 19-1 record. Vidalia’s only loss on the season came against top-ranked St. Vincent’s in the region championship.
It’s no secret where the spark on offense comes. Sophomore Ella Owens has netted an astonishing 89 goals, including nine in the playoffs so far.
