The search for a new Georgia Southern women’s basketball coach is on after the school decided to not renew Kip Drown’s contract.

According to a release Sunday morning, assistant coach Lisa Jackson has been named interim coach.

“I appreciate the effort of Kip Down over the past four seasons with our women’s basketball program and want to thank him for leading the Eagles, both on and off the court,” Athletic Director Tom Kleinlein said in the release. “We will begin a national search for a new leader of our program.”

In his four years leadingogram, the Eagles went 32-86 (27%) and 18-57 in conference play. Saturday’s  73-66 defeat at Georgia State, the Eagles eighth loss in a row, dropped the team to a 2-16 conference record.

The new hire will inherit a program that, in the 2018-19 season, had no seniors or redshirt juniors.
