Four in a row: Savannah Christian captures region crown in front of home crowd

Sports

Take a trip down Chatham Parkway and you’ll find a rich tradition of success with the Savannah Christian baseball program.

The Raiders continued its string of dominance, downing Johnson County 4-3 in eight innings to take the Region 3-A crown for the fourth year in a row.

Garret Bradley gave the Savannah Christian its first lead of the game with an RBI-single in the second inning.

James Portzer got out of a bases loaded jam in the third inning by forcing a Johnson County batter to fly out to centerfield. Despite giving up the lead later in the game, the Raiders eventually came out on top in the eighth inning — improving its region record to 13-1 and 23-5 overall on the year.

Savannah Christian wraps up the regular season on the road at Pierce County (9-11, 8-5) Tuesday at 6 p.m.
