Georgia Southern continued its season success against College of Charleston, downing the Cougars 3-1 at Grayson Stadium in Savannah.
As part of a special road trip to bring the game to Savannah baseball fans backyards, the Eagles hosted the non-conference game at the home of the Savannah Bananas.
Georgia Southern got a strong outing from junior pitcher Tyler Owens (7 innings, 4 strikeouts) and Steven Curry matched a career-high with four hits.
Athletic Director Tom Kleinlein said the community should expect more Georgia Southern athletic events in Savannah as the years go on.
“I think what you are going to see is our campus in Statesboro and athletics starting to incorporate the Savannah community and make them part of Eagle nation,” Kleinlein explained. “I think you are going to see more of our student-athletes down here doing community service.”
