About Jesse

Following a 23-year career in television news, Jesse Blanco remains one of Savannah/Hilton Head Island’s most recognizable television personalities. The last four years, Jesse has been Host and Executive Producer of Eat It and Like It with Jesse Blanco, a TV show about The South and Southern Cuisine.

A native of Miami, Jesse has had the opportunity to live all over the country. Miami to New York City, Nashville to El Paso, Texas. Those travels have exposed him to not all only tons of different cultures, but also the foods of those regions. You pair that with a journalistic curiosity to constantly meet new people and try new things and you get TV anchor turned “foodie.”

Jesse holds the unique distinction being able to say he was Savannah’s 1st Hispanic Sports Anchor when he originally moved to the region in 1999 and later became the city’s 1st Hispanic News Anchor in July 2008 when he anchored Savannah’s 10:00pm newscast on WTGS. Like so many people he moved to Savannah and immediately fell in love with the area. Jesse is also a food columnist for the Savannah Morning News. You’ll find his work every Thursday in the paper’s “Do Savannah” section.

When he isn’t tinkering with recipes or frequenting one of the area’s restaurants or producing his TV show,  you’ll find Jesse screaming at his television rooting on his hometown Miami Dolphins, Hurricanes, Heat or Marlins.

About the Show

Some people see our show as a guide to local restaurants in Savannah. Others see it as a must have foodie resource. Some use it for recipes. What we are actually (in our view) is simple. Something different than you see on all the cooking/travel shows out there.

We are about the South.

There are a lot of misconceptions about Southern Cuisine. Most of the world knows us for being all about the fried chicken and collard greens. Sometimes a chef takes that old classic and gives it a modern twist. But what’s next? There is great food out there. Talented chefs doing great things and quiet, wonderful small town people turning heads as well.  The common denominator is food and we are planning to find them all. Then share them with you. One bite at a time.

Our plan is to take our viewers along with us throughout the South, every season. Our show is growing and great places in Atlanta, Charleston, Florida, Louisiana, Tennessee, as well as our beloved Low Country, are going to be featured. We’re also planning a special edition of Eat It and Like It: “Drink It and Like It.” No, we aren’t going bar hopping. We are headed out in search of some of the best adult beverage stories in the South. There are plenty of great Eats in our region and some great Drinks as well. We will find them.

Where will we show up? You’ll have to tune in to find out. Whatever it is, wherever it is, we will Eat It and Like It.

You can catch Eat It and Like It every Sunday morning, at 7:30am on WSAV-TV. Or check out past episodes right now at
