It’s WSAV News 3’s honor to highlight local women who inspire, lead and forge the way for others this Women’s History Month.

From your nominations across the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry, our station chose four finalists for consideration for WSAV’s Remarkable Women Award. It’s part of a nationwide Nexstar Media initiative to honor the influence that women have had on public policy, social progress and the quality of life.

This year’s Award was given to Jennifer Graham, the founder of Shelter From The Rain. The organization focuses on providing resources to parents who don’t have the support system they need.

Graham was also considered for Nexstar’s nationwide 2023 Woman of the Year Award and enjoyed a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Los Angeles.

Thank you so much for this Remarkable Women Award! This experience has been absolutely unforgettable. Meeting over 100 other remarkable women from across the country who are all working to help others was incredible. Having female leaders from all over the country be so supportive of my work with single parents through Shelter From the Rain was refreshing too. From start to finish, we have had ‘Star’ treatment. This level of kindness felt unreal. I could not have even imagined how amazing this trip would be for me. I am forever grateful.

WSAV also wants to thank the other nominees, Myra, Ree and Janice for their outstanding service to their communities. You can read more about each Remarkable Women finalist below.

It’s not just about one day or one month — it’s about what they do, day in and day out.
