SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – With two weeks to Election Day, and early voting underway, local candidates are making their final appeals to voters.

WSAV once again partnered with Georgia Southern University for Thursday’s forum, this time featuring candidates for Georgia State House District 164 and 166.

Up first, the candidates for Georgia State House District 164: Rep. Ron Stephens (R-Inc.) and Marcus Thompson (D).

Both were questioned on a variety of topics, from their economic priorities to medical marijuana.

The candidates also shared their thoughts on protecting our coastlines, neglect in assisted living homes, a promised raise for teachers, health care and abortion.

The second half of the forum featured Rep. Jesse Petrea (R-Inc.) and Michael Mack (D), running for Georgia State House District 166.

Petrea and Mack were asked about a number of topics, including stricter background checks and the state’s role in regulating abortion.

The two discussed redistricting, wildlife protection, education and more.
