Beaufort County official results:

Kim Likins: 3,596 - 43%

John McCann: 4,750 - 57%

McCann maintained the lead he had in the Nov. 4 election. He then received around 1,000 more votes than Likins, but with four other candidates on the ballot, neither were able to cross the 50 percent threshold.

The current town councilman tells News 3 he will work to unify the council and prioritize workforce housing.

"We have to understand that whatever we do, the island residents come first. It's very important," he said, adding, "We have a great tourism business, but that should be second to the island residents."
