COLUMBIA, S.C. (WSAV) – Former Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden made a stop in Columbia on Saturday.

It’s one of his first campaign appearances since announcing his bid.

Biden promised his South Carolina audience that they would be seeing a lot more of him. He also criticized the current administration and discussed the economy for the middle class, healthcare and more.

“I feel very strongly about civil liberties and civil rights. I feel very strongly about basic economic policies that I think will benefit working class people,” Biden said, adding, “We’ve gotta start rewarding work, not just wealth.”

The Palmetto State is one of the first to hold a primary. According to the latest polls, Biden is the Democratic frontrunner ahead of several contenders, some of whom have already made stops in the state.
