Veteran NBC broadcaster Willard Scott officially retired today after 65 years with NBC… the last 35 years of which was spent with the Today show.
He was the on air weather forecaster for the Today Show from 1980 to 1996. Willard didn’t leave the show though… he continued his on air work up until this day doing centenarian birthdays.
Born March 7, 1934… in Alexandria Virginia… Willard is 81… and started his career as a page for NBC when he was just 16.
He announced his retirement December 11.
NBC looked back on his career on the Today show this morning… using the hashtag #Thankyouwillard.

Thanks for the memories Willard! We love you and wish you the happiest of retirements!
