Family and friends said goodbye Wednesday to a fifth-grader who died after a fight in her Lowcountry classroom.
It was a “Celebration of Life” for 10-year-old Raniya Wright, a student at Forest Hills Elementary School. Her community came together to honor her at a church in Walterboro.
Raniya died one week ago, two days after an altercation in her classroom.
Few details have been released about her death apart from recent comments from a South Carolina senator.
Investigators say they are awaiting autopsy results before releasing further information.
