SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – A worker operating a backhoe struck a gas line, causing a “large leak” at 35th and Bull streets Wednesday afternoon, officials say.
According to Savannah Fire Rescue, firefighters blocked off Bull Street between 34th and 36th streets to monitor the air in surrounding buildings.
Neighbors in the area of 35th and Brady streets were also asked to shelter in place as crews worked to cap the damaged line.
“No one was injured and the incident was mitigated by 1:15 p.m.,” the department stated.
