Elderly woman seriously injured in 3-vehicle crash on DeRenne Ave.

Police say an 87-year-old woman was taken to the hospital Thursday after a multi-vehicle crash on DeRenne Avenue.

The Savannah Police Department (SPD) said three vehicles were involved in the crash that happened just after 2:00 p.m.

Police say Janice Talley, 87, of Savannah, was driving west on DeRenne Avenue and entered the intersection at Paulsen Street. 40-year-old Marsha Miller, of Savannah, was driving south on Paulsen Street and also entered the intersection.

The vehicles collided, causing Miller’s car to hit a car that was stopped in the turn lane on eastbound DeRenne Avenue. That vehicle, driven by Teresa Cullina, 66, of Tybee Island, then crashed into a power pole.

Police say Talley was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Miller was treated on scene for minor injuries, and Cullina wasn’t hurt.

DeRenne Avenue remained closed between Paulsen and Reynolds streets for a couple hours as crews cleared the scene.

SPD says the crash remains under investigation by the Traffic Investigation Unit.
