Suspect arrested in fatal Friday evening shooting

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – UPDATE: Police have arrested 24-year-old Jarvis Whitehead in the shooting death of Dominique Larry.

Jarvis Whitehead, 24, was arrested at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday and now faces murder charges in a May 13 shooting on Ogeechee Road.

Whitehead was arrested during a warrant service at a Hutchinson Island ferry dock.

He is also charged with possession of firearm by convicted felon and possession of a firearm during commission of a crime.


Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department’s Violent Crimes investigators are searching for the suspect in a Friday night shooting at a hotel on the 4000 block of Ogeechee Road, that injured Dominique Larry, 29, of Savannah.

At about 9:15 p.m. on May 13, Metro responded to the scene finding Larry suffering from a gunshot wound. Larry was transported by ambulance to Memorial University Medical Center in critical condition.

Investigators ask the public’s help for the man involved who is suspected to be involved in this shooting. Jarvis Whitehead stands about 5’6″ and weighs roughly 150 pounds.

Circumstances surrounding this shooting remain under investigation.
