One week before the bell rings for schools in Chatham County, parents now have to face fears their kids may be at risk on the school bus.
A new 11-page audit details dozens of problems with Savannah-Chatham County school buses.
MV Trandportation, which took over as bus provider for this county, found that almost 75% of the school buses under precious company, “First Student,” should not have been operational.
Many were in disbelief, but not to school board member and superintendent Dr. Thomas Lockamy.
Lockamy had the results of an independent audit done last November which described the fleet as being “below average.”
The question remains, why was nothing done after learning of these major issues.
