Around 3,000 people are expected to attend this year’s annual Savannah Scottish Games.

For the 43rd year, the city will celebrate Scottish heritage with athletic games, music, food and more.

The family-friendly event opens to the public at 9 a.m. May 4 at Bethesda Academy (9520 Ferguson Ave). Closing ceremonies begin at 4:30 p.m.

But those participating in various athletic events are asked to show up earlier. So if you’re planning on tossing the sheath, turning the caber or throwing a hammer, be sure to check out the schedule details here.

More interested in the music? The Savannah Scottish Games will be hosting pipes and drums bands from throughout the region as well as MacGilliossa is a Florida-based Scottish/Celtic national touring band.
