Richmond Hill woman arrested in deadly Jasper County crash

The South Carolina Highway Patrol has made an arrest in a deadly single vehicle crash in Jasper County last month.

It happened around 4AM March 30th on Bellinger Hill Road near Chalmers Road. 

We’re told the driver, Tessa Openlander, 25, of Richmond Hill, veered off the roadway and struck an embankment. Two other occupants were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. One of those, Christopher Clark, 22, of Savannah, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Openlander and other occupant were transported for treatment and are expected to be ok. 

According to officials, Openlander was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center today, where she is awaiting a bond hearing. She is being charged with Felony Driving Under the Influence – Resulting in Death. 

The crash remains under investigation.
