Our Hometown: Registration open for new program to build confidence in girls

Do you know a girl between the ages of 14-16 who could use a boost of confidence?

A safe place to express herself and ask questions?  Some interaction with other girls her age in a judgement free zone?

COPE- which stands for Childhood Obesity Prevention and Education- is introducing a new 12-week program called “Girls on the Rise.”

The initiative will cover issues like bullying, dysfunctional eating patterns, feelings of exclusion, and social pressures.

It will also focus on confidence building activities to help young women reach their full potential in life.

The first meeting is THIS Wednesday, November 30.

Organizers are looking for 8 to 15 girls to participate.

There is no fee to register but girls must commit to attend meetings each Wednesday from 3:30 – 5:30  from Dec 7 through early March at the COPE studio at 8511 Ferguson Avenue, Suite F in Sandfly.

Parents will participate in March.
