Family and friends of a Savannah police officer and his wife were found murdered on Wilmington Island Monday morning are still coming to terms with the loss.
Friends have described Luis and Akia Molina as a happy couple. Luis Molina was a member of a brotherhood outside of the police department known as the Savannah Ruff Ryders.
The Ruff Ryders tell News 3 they are left with heavy hearts. Simply because they’ve known Officer Molina, better known as “Moe-Man”, and his wife for years.
“Always jolly smiling laughing he was one of the type of guy that you would never know it if there was anything wrong with him,” Shea Wisdom, President of Savannah Ruff Ryders said.
“He was a big guy but we had a great heart. And you know for us it’s just a huge huge loss,” Francisco Villavicencio, member of the Savannah Ruff Ryders said.
“All around good guy,” Anthony McClary said.
Nothing but good things said about “Moe-Man” a man who they’ve ridden side by side with for nearly four years.
“It’s just been hard it just really really hard…It’s one of those things you’re never really truly prepared for or never really ready for. They were the perfectly imperfect couple. they were just full of life great together.”
Villavicencio told News 3 this past weekend marked the two-year wedding anniversary of the Molina’s.
The Ruff Ryders say they spent Sunday with ‘Moe-Man’ at the Molly McPherson’s in Richmond Hill, not knowing that would be their last time together.
“Kind of hurtful. it’s kind of still a shock to everyone in the chapter,” Wisdom says.
“I still couldn’t believe it happened,” McClary says.
The Savannah ruff Ryders have been in contact with the family. They tell News 3 funeral arrangements have not been finalized, but the Ruff Ryders plan to provide a final ride for “Moe-Man”
