Omega Psi Phi Fraternity supplies students with backpacks full of school supplies

Since 2009 members of Mu Phi chapter of Omega Psi Phi fraternity have been raising money and collecting supplies for Savannah-Chatham County Public Schools students. This year, the organization filled more than 100 backpacks that they are distributing to students at seven different schools throughout the district.

Earlier this week, students at Spencer Elementary received some of the backpacks and supplies.  Fraternity members say they are also presenting backpacks to students at: Georgetown K-8, Savannah Classical Academy, Haven Elementary, East Broad K-8, Port Wentworth Elementary, and Mercer Middle School.

One of the ways the members raised funds for the project was through their “Bowling for Bags” tournament in July.
