Today is the day!
The annual Georgia Day Parade will begin today at 10:30 a.m. on North Bull Street at Forsyth Park.
This year’s theme is all about Georgia business: “From Waffles Fries to Global Skies: How Georgia Business Created the Modern World.” Students in Chatham County Schools have been studying advertising campaigns throughout the state’s history and will show theirs off in the parade this morning.
Traffic may be an issue in Downtown Savannah this morning, potentially leading to road closures, so here’s what you need to know. The parade route will begin on North Bull Street at Forsyth Park and it will continue north through the morning, traveling to City Hall for a short ceremony. It will then head back down to Forsyth Park. All roads are expected to be back open by noon.
The Southern Scene’s Natalie Hendrix will be hosting alongside Sophia Sineath, Education Coordinator with the Georgia Historical Society.
WSAV will be streaming the parade live as it happens from 10:30 a.m. to noon and we will be airing an hour-long version of the parade beginning at noon with a repeat at 7 p.m. on MyLC. Plus, the entire parade will be available to view on www.TheSouthernScene.com as early as Thursday.
