(NBC News) -- President Donald Trump is launching a new battle with tech and social media companies.
Mr. Trump said Tuesday when he Googles "Trump news," the search engine only brings up negative stories about him and shows no news stories from conservative sites.
He tweeted that Google has it "rigged" so that almost all stories and news about him are bad, accusing the company of "suppressing voices of conservatives" and saying the situation "will be addressed."
"Google and Twitter and Facebook, they're really treading on very, very troubled territory, and they have to be careful. It's not fair to large portions of the population," the president said.
Google responded with a statement reading "We never rank search results to manipulate political sentiment."
Democrats are pumping the brakes on the president's call to action.
"I don't think we should be racing to regulate based on the president's subjective experience one morning," said Senator Chris Coons.
