Community provides groceries to US Coast Guard members affected by shutdown

(WPBN) — A Michigan community is coming together to provide groceries to members of the U.S. Coast Guard who are affected by the government shutdown.

While funding was found to get the Coast Guard their paychecks through Monday, their next payday is up in the air.

Now, businesses in Grand Traverse County are teaming up with community members to make sure those military members don’t go without.

Thanks to monetary and food donations from other businesses and generous customers, the Bayside Market in Traverse City has an account in place, offering free groceries to Coast Guard members who show their military ID.
