Man charged in shooting death of his wife in Richmond Hill

RICHMOND HILL, Ga. (WSAV) — A 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murdering his wife.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), Jeremiah Joel Watkins was arrested Sunday, Jan. 14 for the murder of Breona Watkins, 29.

Around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday Richmond Hill Police Department officers were dispatched to Plantation Apartments (201 Casey Drive) in reference to gunshots.

When officers arrived they found Breona Watkins had been shot.

EMS responded and transported her to St. Joseph’s/Candler in Savannah where she died from injuries.

The GBI responded to the scene of the homicide at the request of the Richmond Hill Police Department.

According to GBI, Watkins turned himself to the Hinesville Police Department and is now being held at the Bryan County Jail.
