Lock-down lifted at Appling County High School; student transported to hospital

Baxley Police responded to Appling County High School on Monday morning, but officials have not confirmed why they were summoned to the school.,
According to Appling County Schools Superintendent Scarlett Miles Copeland, the Appling County High School was under a Level 3 lock-down and evacuated at 9:49 a.m.

Georgia  Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) and law enforcement officials were onsite.
Around 11 a.m., Copeland posted another alert on the school’s Facebook page stating, “We wanted to assure students, staff and parents that everything is safe and secure at Appling County High School. We had an incident occur, and we have law enforcement from the city, county, state patrols and GBI working together to investigate this incident. As a result of the incident, the student was transported to a larger hospital. As we are informed from law enforcement, we will provide an update at a later time this date.”
