Students across the country are trying their luck at the National Spelling Bee competition that is underway in Washington D.C.
There’s even a contestant from our area competing for the top prize.
Cole Masterman-Smith, a seventh grader from Vidalia has moved on to round three in the National Spelling Bee. He successfully spelled the word “goji” on Tuesday. In case any of you are wondering, goji is type of berry.
Cole is sponsored by Robert Toombs Christian Academy in Lyons.
There are eight other spellers from Georgia and eight from South Carolina competing in the Spelling Bee.
