UPDATE: Savannah Police: Death of 19-year-old ruled suicide

Local News

Authorities say the death of a 19-year-old man has been ruled as a suicide.

Emergency crews were called to Turner Boulevard and Boundary Street last week where they found the man in a canal. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 19-year-old has not been identified.

Savannah Police confirm the victim is a 19-year-old male. His identity will not be released until next of kin are notified. Violent crime detectives have ruled out foul play.

They still do not know how he ended up in the water.

According to Savannah Police, the Savannah Fire Department responded to an area near Turner Blvd. and Boundary Street early Thursday morning.

Crews found a man in the water but could not save him. He was pronounced dead on the scene after firefighters attempted to give him CPR.

SCAD security officers were also on the scene.

SPD’s Violent Crimes Unit is investigating for any sign of foul play. SPD says they are unsure if any security cameras captured what happened.

A portion of Turner Boulevard was temporarily closed off to traffic. All roads reopened.

We will continue to follow this developing story.
