UPDATE: Boil water advisory lifted in Rincon

A boil advisory issued Wednesday for portions of Rincon has since been lifted.

The city announced the update on Friday morning.

A boil water advisory has been issued for some residents and business owners in Rincon.

According to city officials, a water line break prompted the notice. City staff is currently working to fix the line.

The following locations are under the advisory: East Towne Park residential and commercial areas, Silverwood commercial areas and Silverwood Place senior housing.

The city urges residents to boil water used for drinking/consumption, cooking and bathing as a precaution until further notice.

Water should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil. Bottled water may be used as an alternative.

The city says food establishments affected by the advisory should contact the Effingham County Health Department for further instructions

The notice will remain in effect until the water system is back to normal, according to the city.
