Tybee Island City Council considering change in marijuana possession law

TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (WSAV) — The Tybee Island City Council is considering changing its marijuana possession laws.

The change would make possession of up to two ounces of marijuana a misdemeanor with no jail time. The first reading of the new proposal passed with a 4 to 2 vote, with the next vote scheduled for August.

The council’s next step would be deciding how to handle previous offenders.
