The builder, subcontractors, vendors and volunteers gathered at the St. Jude Dream Home Wednesday to mark a milestone and take part in a dream home tradition.
The home, being built in Richmond Hill by Village Park Homes, is ready for the hardwood floors to be installed, but before that, project managers from St. Jude invited all the stakeholders to sign the dining room floor and write well-wishes on the concrete to the winner of the home.
The 3,800 square foot, $400,000 home will be raffled off live on WSAV on Wednesday, June 27, 2018. Tickets are $100 dollars. There are 32 dream homes being built around the country this year that are expected to raise $25 million for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
Even though it costs more than $2.7 million to operate the hospital every day, families never receive a bill from St. Jude — not for treatment, travel, housing or food. St. Jude believes the only thing a family should worry about is helping their child live.
That mission is why the leader of Village Park Homes said he decided to build a home for St. Jude:
“The worst thing when you’ve got a challenge with one of your children is to be worried about money,” said John Cardamone, president and CEO. “You need to be focused on getting the child well and so to be able to take that worry away, makes a bad situation a lot better and we’re very delighted to help.”
More than 500 tickets have been sold in the first two days of sales so fewer than 6,000 remain. Click here to enter. You can also call 1-800-383-9844 to talk to an agent who will help you reserve a ticket over the phone.
