A suspected serial rapist has been arrested in South Carolina.
From 1995-2003, authorities say Gregory Frye raped or attempted to rape 12 women at several apartment complexes. The women ranged in age from 14 to 51 — and one victim was targeted twice.
The 53-year-old has been charged with burglary, kidnapping and criminal sexual conduct.
Six months ago, investigators say they started looking at these cases from a new perspective, focusing on forensic evidence.
Last week they got a hit on the DNA matching six of the cases.
“This is a great day to know that we got at least one person that’s going to be held accountable for a reign of terror that he’s caused for these victims,” said Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright.
Investigators are looking into the possibility of additional victims.
Spartanburg is located in the northern part of South Carolina, about 20 miles from the North Carolina border.
