The excitement about moving the Carolina Panther’s headquarters to South Carolina has died down. A bill allowing the move is now on hold in the Senate.
Last month, Governor Henry McMaster presented the idea that would give the team more than $100 million in tax incentives. The bill passed quickly out of the House but has yet to go up for discussion in the Senate.
Gov. Henry McMaster says, “We’ve been telling everybody that we’re open for business. That’s why these businesses are coming and for us to turn down this opportunity would be a serious mistake.”
A senator put a hold on discussing the Panther’s bill until the Senate finishes its work on a bill dealing with the sale of power company Santee Cooper.
