Henry McMaster has won the governor’s race in South Carolina, NBC News projects.
The incumbent governor was running against Democrat James Smith. At 9:30 p.m. with 44 percent of precincts reporting, McMaster took 56 percent of the votes (or 368,908).
McMaster aims to expand business in the Palmetto State, which he says will fix other problems such as crime, drug use, and violence.
The governor promises transparency and future economic growth, as well as workforce development.
