News 3 has learned the details of a settlement for a principal who came under fire after allegedly having sex with a deputy on school grounds three years after she was originally cleared by the Beaufort County school system.
UPDATE: Correction, we reported that Beaufort County Deputy DeJuan Holmes was fired in 2016 but that is incorrect. He resigned in 2016.
According to documents obtained by WSAV, Amanda O’Nan received a settlement of just over $51,000 from Beaufort County, including back pay. This comes after a three-year-long investigation by district officials.
Many students and parents held demonstrations in support of O’Nan but others called for her to step down.
Amanda O’Nan resigned earlier this month citing concerns about stress to her family.
