The Board of Public Education for the City of Savannah and Chatham County has tentatively adopted a 2019 millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 3.27 percent.

According to SCCPSS officials, the millage rate remains unchanged and SCCPSS is legally required to post a public meeting notice on the tentative Millage Rate as an “increase” because there is no rollback included.  However, the proposed Millage Rate remains unchanged and there is no increase being proposed to the existing 18.881 mills included in the FY 20 budget.

All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this tax increase to be held in the Jessie Collier DeLoach Board Room of the Whitney Administrative Complex, 2 Laura Avenue,  on Wednesday, June 12, at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. and on Wednesday, June 19, at 6 p.m.

All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearings on this tax increase. Should any citizen like to be placed on the public hearing agenda to comment on the tentative millage rate, please call the Board Office at (912)-395-5534 or email no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, and no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19.
