SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The Savannah Police Department (SPD) arrested a teen in connection to a shooting that left a 2-year-old girl dead.
Around 4:30 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to a home in the 2100 block of Alaska Street and discovered Lauren Barton, 2, critically injured. She was transported to a hospital where she later died due to her injuries.
A 16-year-old boy, who fled from the home immediately following the shooting, was located soon after and arrested without incident.
The suspect, whose name is not being released at this time, was booked into the Regional Youth Detention Center on charges of second-degree murder and second-degree cruelty to children.
SPD continues to investigate the incident.
