A Savannah teenager has been identified as the victim of a crash on Robert Smalls Parkway Saturday morning.
Sources say a full-sized van slammed into the back of a semi-truck just after 7:00 a.m. in front of the Lowe’s on the roadway.
According to the Beaufort County Coroner, 17-year-old Marvin Gonzalez was killed in the crash. Authorities say he was dead upon arrival.
Two other people were injured in the wreck.
Two helicopters responded to the scene along with several wreckers to rescue three passengers stuck in their cars. First responders had to use the jaws of life.
The last ambulance left the scene close to 8:30 a.m. The road was shut down until about 11:00 a.m.
