Local News

Don’t you hate it when you hear a movie is filmed in Savannah and you go to watch the trailer and all you see is maybe a shot of Spanish moss hanging on a tree or a quick glimpse of the marsh? The new trailer for “The Poison Rose,” starring John Travolta and Morgan Freeman has been released and it’s safe to say there is no doubt a majority of the filming took place right here in the Coastal Empire.

From the iconic Forsyth Park to the cobblestoned Factors Walk, there is no mistaken the role of Savannah in this film.

And while the scenic beauty of the Hostess City is captured on screen, the film packs in some pretty big Hollywood stars like Brenden Fraser (The Mummy), Famke Janssen (X-Men),  Peter Stormare (Fargo) and “Terminator” star Robert Patrick–Travolta’s daughter Ella Bleu even makes an appearance.

According to IMDB, the film is rated R and follows the story of “Carson Phillips (played by Travolta) who takes on a routine missing person case which slowly reveals itself to be a complex interwoven web of crimes, suspects and dead bodies. When he discovers his long lost daughter is the number one suspect, he races a ticking clock to save her, solve the murders, and uncover the town’s dirty secrets.”

“The Poison Rose” will be in select theaters and On Demand on May 24.
