Monday night crash leads to homicide investigation

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Savannah Police investigate a Monday night deadly shooting.

Police say officers responded to a crash at 11:00 p.m. at the intersection of W. Gwinnett Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Police discovered the driver of the crashed vehicle, Kareem Smalls, 36, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Smalls died from his injuries at a local hospital.

Detectives determined Smalls was shot in the 600 block of Draper Street and fled the scene in the vehicle.

Police say the case is a homicide investigation.
