Crews have extinguished a fire at Senior Citizens, Inc. (SCI) that broke out Thursday afternoon.

Savannah Fire was called to the organization’s building on Clifford and Bull streets just before 1:00 p.m.

According to SCI, the fire was contained to the second floor, which houses administrative offices. Everyone in the building at the time of the fire is safe.

Officials with the organization say client services will resume as usual under regular business hours. The Ruth Byck Adult Day Center is not affected, but administrative offices will be closed next week as the damage is assessed.

Savannah Fire says the blaze appears to have started as construction crews were dismantling a metal staircase.
