Hundreds of runners hit the streets Saturday for the 9th annual Miles for Meals race.
Senior Citizens Inc. hosts the event every year. People who participated could run or walk the 5-k race, down Washington Avenue.
Some runners and dogs dressed in costumes. At the end, the person in the best costume got a prize.
The event raised money for Meals on Wheels, which is an organization that makes and delivers healthy meals to low-income seniors.
“It’s all about fun, while trying to remember that there are a lot of older seniors out there who are struggling to feed themselves and that’s why Meals on Wheels is so important,“ said Patti Lyons of the race. She is the president of Senior Citizens Inc.
News 3′s Danni Dikes emceed the event. She also ran the race.
The overall winner finished in just 18 minutes.
