The National Weather Service says a tornado did not touch down Friday in the Coastal Empire or Lowcountry.
A survey team spent the day Saturday looking at areas near Hardeeville after winds destroyed homes across the Lowcountry.
Officials also checked areas in northern Chatham County and in Effingham County, west of I-95. The National Weather Service says straight-line winds caused the damage.
They were so strong Chatham Emergency Services says they collapsed the roofs of two warehouses in Port Wentworth.
Some people tell News 3 they did not have power until late Saturday afternoon.
