October is National Disability Awareness Month but for one local organization, promoting disability awareness never stops.
Since 1986, Living Independence for Everyone (LIFE), Inc. has been serving the disabled community in southeast Georgia by providing everything from affordable and accessible housing to assistive home technology.
The organization survives off of state and federal funding, as well as grants, but they do not have a budget for advertising. Most of the people they serve find out about the organization by word of mouth.
Despite that, they want the community to know that even if you don’t see them they are always here to help.
LIFE, Inc. serves Bryan, Bulloch, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Glynn, Liberty, McIntosh, Tattnall and Toombs counties. Their centers provide information, support systems, independent living skills training, transition services and more.
If you, or someone you know, is in need of disability resources, find out more information at lifecil.com.
