Judge rules city of Statesboro not responsible in 2014 death of GSU student

Local News

A judge has ruled that the city of Statesboro will not be held responsible for the death of a Georgia Southern student. In 2014, 18-year-old Michael Gatto was beaten by a bouncer outside Rude Rudy’s Bar. He later died from his injuries.
His family planned to sue the city, claiming it was aware the bar was dangerous.

A judge ruled that the city and city clerk are not liable in Gatto’s death.
