Hundreds take part in Reindeer Run for Rape Crisis Center of the Coastal Empire

Local News

The 9th Annual Reindeer Run kicked off Saturday morning at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center.

The 8K took place on Hutchinson Island.

Several local celebrities led the pack. They were each challenged to raise $1,000 in advance of the event. Proceeds from their efforts and registration fees will support the Rape Crisis Center of the Coastal Empire.

The RCC will use the money for prevention education programs in local schools — including sexual harassment and anti-bullying curriculum.

The event also featured a holiday market with all sorts of food, a cookie contest and a holiday character contest.

About 400 runners registered for the race. Organizers hoped to raise $15,000 with this year’s effort.
