SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) —
Priests from across Southeast Georgia gathered in the Hostess City tonight to renew their priestly promises during the annual Chrism Mass.
Over 100 priests were in attendance along with parishioners to witness the blessing of the Holy Oil.
The Mass is an annual tradition during Holy Week but the service began with reflections and prayers for those in Paris and prayers without a Cathedral to attend for the Chrism Mass.
One priest tells News 3 the images of The Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris have become heartbreaking to see.
“I was just stunned and heart broken to hear the news of Notre Dame which is such an important icon. Not just for the Catholic Church but for Western Civilization. It has historical value, artistic value and spiritual value not just for the French people but for the world. It was unbelievable to see those images,” said Father Pablo Migone.
Father Migone also tells News 3 The City of Paris and Parishioners of the Historic Cathedral remain in the prayers of clergy members around the world as they look ahead to the repair of a global icon.
