Nine historical sites in Savannah offer free admission in August to share the untold history of African Americans in Savannah.

The initiative — spearheaded by the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of African American History and Culture — relays history from the colonial period to the 20th century.

On Sunday, Fort Pulaski National Monument, Massie Heritage Center, Mother Mathilda Beasley Cottage and Telfair Museums Owens-Thomas House will offer free admission.

Contact the sites directly for more information.
