GAINESVILLE, Ga. (WSAV) – UPDATE: News 3 has learned new details relating to an officer involved shooting that left one dead Friday in Gainesville.
Just before 5 p.m. Friday, a man, later identified as 21-year-old Adam Paul English of Oakwood, was waving a gun and walking near Northeast Georgia Physicians Group Surgical Associates, near Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Multiple Gainesville officers responded. English was given verbal commands to drop the weapon, but he did not comply. English was shot multiple times by officers and transported to the hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
No officers were injured. An autopsy of English will be performed, and GBI will continue to investigate the incident.

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Two police officers and a suspect were taken to hospitals after a shooting in Georgia.
Gainesville police spokesman Kevin Holbrook told WSB-TV that a suspect was shot by officers Friday afternoon. He did not give details about the person’s condition.
Northeast Georgia Medical Center spokeswoman Beth Downs told The Gainesville Times the shooting happened on hospital property but not inside the building.
Gainesville police say on social media that two officers were evaluated at the hospital but do not have any apparent injuries. The department says officers initially responded to the area because of a report of a gunman.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation tweeted that its agents are responding to the shooting at the request of Gainesville police.
